Was Decent Then Failed Miserably!
At first the "My Plate" app seemed like it might work for me. I particularly liked the label scanning reader. Then as I used this app for a matter of a couple of months, I realized it really was not worth much. Here are at least 3 reasons.
1) Most of the calorie entries are put in by users. Even when they say they are "verified", they often still dont match the product labels they are suppose to reflect. On top of that, the nutrient calculations never recalculate if you note that you eat only a partial serving of anything.
2) The community communication system of questions and answers is very awkward. Its hard to keep track of what are new answers to what and to whom. You are searching tons of notes to find what you are looking for.
3) The support and programming behind this app is pitiful. A few weeks ago the whole app crashed. People lost data, peoples data crossed with others data, and a "cream with skim" item kept repeating in many peoples data every single breakfast and lunch. Here it is almost a month later and while the staff has promised over and over it will be fixed, made us install & reinstall & resync our data over and over, yet still most of us are not fixed. We have meals and recipes we have spent time entering that are lost for good. We have historical data lost for good. We still have this crazy data coming up and yet we have *silence* from the staff. We are also not being told any way to get our money back! DO NOT PAY ANYTHING TO THEM! Find yourself a different app to use to track your calories and nutrition!
